Immediate Action Required To Prevent Loss of Netcare Access
After July 7, 2016, computers that are not updated with the required software will be unable to connect to Alberta Netcare Portal (ANP). To prevent service interruptions notify your manager and update your facility’s computers today.
Please note: If you require an RSA FOB token and passcode to access ANP, you are a community/remote user and this notice applies to you. AHS issued computers are actively managed and already meet the minimum requirements to access ANP.
Community/remote users must follow up with their managers and their clinic’s IT support (i.e. whomever maintains their computers and software) to confirm that their systems meet the specified requirements for versions of Windows, Browser, and Citrix Receiver client.
Why is this Necessary:
The Netcare security certificate which encrypts communication with external customers must be updated. The current security certificate is expiring. The current type of certificate which is being decommissioned worldwide in favor of the newer more secure certificates providing stronger encryption is no longer available. The new certificate will not work on desktops running older software.
Action that the users need to take before July 7th:
Community users running older software need to upgrade their desktops to more current versions of Windows, Browser and Citrix Receiver client.
Minimum requirements:
- Community sites using Windows or Mac OS X are required to use a supported operating system (Windows: 7, Vista, 8, RT, 8.1, RT 8.1 or 10) (Mac: OS X 10.9 or higher)
- Citrix Receiver 13.3 (also known as Receiver 3.3) or higher for Windows, or 11.7 or higher for Mac/Apple
- Other devices (e.g. UNIX, Linux, SunRay, Thinclients, etc.) will require that users engage with the clinic’s local IT support to ensure their system supports SHA-2 SSL certificates
How can I Check if my system meets requirements for access:
Users who log into Netcare Portal via https://access.albertanetcare.ca can test their systems by logging into the Netcare test site via https://accesstest.albertanetcare.ca and try to launch the Alberta Netcare Portal application. If the application does not launch successfully or you have any concerns about your system’s software versions, you will need to contact your manager and your clinic’s IT support team.
Who can I Contact for more information:
For questions regarding minimum requirements please contact ANP Operations at (587) 926-5117
Note: Community/remote users must engage their clinic’s IT support regarding any upgrade concerns. The AHS and Provincial Service Desks are unable to support the upgrade concerns of external community/remote users.
