Voice of Family Physicians in Alberta
The ACFP is a professional voluntary organization, representing more than 6,000 family physicians, family medicine residents, and medical students in Alberta.
We are the provincial chapter of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), the credentialing body responsible for the specialty of family medicine and steward of the Patient’s Medical Home.
The ACFP supports our members by providing continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities and upholding the established standards for CPD delivery. As the voice for family physicians in Alberta, we advocate on behalf of our members to advance excellence of family practice; define and celebrate the role of family medicine as the foundation of our health care system; and work to ensure Albertans can access high quality care from family physicians.

The CFPC is the professional organization that represents more than 45,000 members across the country. The College establishes the standards for and accredits postgraduate family medicine training in Canada’s 17 medical schools. It reviews and certifies continuing professional development programs and materials that enable family physicians to meet certification and licensing requirements.
The CFPC provides high-quality services, supports family medicine teaching and research, and advocates on behalf of the specialty of family medicine, family physicians, and the patients they serve.
