FFYFP Blog – The Guidebook

By: Dr. Amanda Wang on behalf of the FFYFP Committee

Happy October friends!

We are so excited to officially launch our FFYFP Guidebook. Our vision is for this live guidebook to be a central hub to answer oft universal questions for a wide variety of topics you may come across and to direct questions to helpful resources. These topics are especially useful in your first few years of practice as you acclimatize to being independent in Alberta!
Because this is intended to be a living document that reflects the needs and perspective of its audience, we’re sharing it in draft form for your feedback, suggested edits, and corrections. We’d love to hear your input on this Guidebook, and have created a Google form for you to submit any suggestions.

What You Will Find

Everyone is welcome to use this guide, even those who are beyond their first five years of practice. Topics include chapters on licensing and registration, clinical guidelines and protocols, billing and payment models, practice management, collaboration and team-based care, cultural competency and sensitivity, patient safety and legal considerations, physician well-being and self-care, and continuing medical education and professional development.

This book will be maintained and resources regularly updated to make sure links are always live and information is accurate in an ever-evolving health care landscape.

I’d like to thank the ACFP team for their hard work behind the scenes and the FFYFP committee’s commitment in creating this book. I am feeling especially grateful to our ACFP community and FFYFP committee this Thanksgiving season.

Sharing Feedback

We welcome comments and feedback so please if you have any suggestions or find anything incorrect, any inconsistencies, or broken links, please fill out the form.

Thank you, and happy reading!
