On behalf of the ACFP Board and staff team, I would like to wish our members and family physicians across the province a happy World Family Doctor Day (WFDD)!
Today is a day for us to celebrate all that you do and to recognise the value that you bring to communities across Alberta. This year’s WFDD theme “Family Doctors: The heart of health care” certainly resonates with the public awareness and advocacy efforts the ACFP has committed to. We believe that family medicine is the foundation for a healthy Alberta, and at the heart of it all, are the longitudinal and trusted relationship that people have with their family doctor and their primary care teams. Physician, patient, and team work together to ensure proactive and preventative care is provided from cradle to grave. This special relationship supports Albertans through some of their most joyful and challenging times.
WFDD provides us with a moment to pause, reflect, and honour the outstanding contributions and impact family doctors make in health care systems around the world. We hope you will join us in this global celebration. Visit our campaign website www.familydocsrock.ca for videos, posters, social media messaging, and more.
Take a moment to read stories of appreciation from patients across the province, watch inspirational videos highlighting physicians and patients, or listen to the perspectives of fellow members on the podcast at Heart of Family Medicine.
We thank you again for all you do, not just on World Family Doctor Day, but every single day of the year.
Sincerely,
Terri Potter BA, PMP, CAE
