As the end of the year quickly approaches, many of us are looking to tie up loose ends and cross items off our to-do lists. There is much satisfaction to be found in completing these tasks and it is my pleasure to share some of the milestones the ACFP checked off its list in 2024.
Team-based Primary Care in Alberta (TPCA) Forum Summary Report
In my October message I shared a few reflections on the TPCA Forum. Since then, the ACFP staff team alongside the TPCA’s Planning Committee and the Coalition for Primary Health Care have produced a Summary Report and this video, which captures the essence of the day.
This report provides the keynotes and summaries of the rich and varied table discussions. The graphic illustration which captured the day’s highlights is also included.
Team-Based Care Workshop at the Summit
Harnessing the momentum generated from the TPCA has been a priority for the ACFP. Along with continued advocacy for support to be in place for team-based primary care, we are eager to bring this energy into the new year. Within the agenda for the 70th annual Family Medicine Summit (Summit), you will find a Team-Based Care Workshop which will focus on evaluation and evidence of existing team-based practices, your aspirations for team-based care, and getting your input on what will be needed to make it a reality in Alberta. We hope you will join us for this engaging session to help identify practical approaches for successfully implementing a team-based primary care system.
Summit Extras
That workshop is just one of the many highlights I am looking forward to this coming March. Not only is this Summit an anniversary year for the conference and the organization itself, but it also will mark the end of my term as your President. This experience has been exceptional for me, and I am truly honoured to have had it coincide with such a momentous occasion.
I hope you will join me in celebrating these milestones and achievements throughout the weekend, at the 70th Anniversary Celebration and during the Annual Meeting of Members (more details to come)!
Kudos to the Summit Scientific Planning Committee for developing yet another incredible conference program!
