Our members are at the heart of everything we do. Their expertise, engagement, and commitment help shape family medicine in Alberta. This month, we’re delighted to introduce Dr. Marwan Al-Doori, the newest Member-at-Large on the Member Engagement and Recognition Committee (MERC), one of ACFP’s operational committees.
Since 2015, Dr. Al-Doori has practised in Edmonton, co-founding New Glenwood Medical Clinic and providing comprehensive, full-scope care. In January 2026, he completed Care of the Elderly Diploma from the University of Alberta with a focus on multimorbidity, polypharmacy, and complex geriatric care.
His Committee Work
As a member of the MERC, Dr. Al-Doori helps to ensure that the ACFP is meeting the needs of its diverse membership and supporting the development of operational tactics in the areas of communications, member engagement services, and stakeholder relations.
Dr. Al-Doori volunteered for the MERC as it aligns with his commitment to strengthening community-based family medicine and supporting system-level improvements in care delivery.
When asked about what he values most about the work of the ACFP, he notes: “I appreciate its role in promoting high-quality, patient-centred care and addressing the evolving needs of communities across Alberta.
