Every step forward is made possible by the expertise, dedication, and engagement of our members. This month, we’re pleased to highlight Dr. Dalia Abdellatif, Director-at-Large of the ACFP Board of Directors.
Dr. Abdellatif is a family physician in Edmonton. She is very involved in the medical community. In addition to sitting on the ACFP Board, she is currently the Medical Director of the Edmonton North Primary Care Network (ENPCN), the Physician Lead of Alberta Medical Association-Accelerating Change Transformation Team (AMA-ACTT), among others. As a first‑generation Canadian and mother, Dr. Abdellatif is deeply invested in building a primary care system that truly serves Alberta’s diverse communities. Her work focuses on strengthening team-based care, improving access between primary and specialty care, and supporting learners and colleagues to thrive in family medicine. Dr. Abdellatif was recognized in 2024 with a Fellowship of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), a prestigious designation awarded by the CFPC to active members who have held their certification for at least 10 years and have made outstanding community contributions.
An Overview of Her Board Role
Dr. Abdellatif is volunteering to serve on the ACFP Board to bring her front-line leadership experience to province-wide efforts that support family physicians, improve primary care, and keep patients and communities at the centre.
“I value that the ACFP consistently puts family physicians and patients at the heart of its work. The organization provides a trusted, unifying voice for our discipline while offering practical tools, education, and advocacy that reflect life in real clinics, not just policy on paper. I especially appreciate how the ACFP fosters community and connection among family doctors, creating space for us to learn from one another and to feel less alone in a very demanding environment,” notes Dr. Abdellatif.
As a member of the Board of Directors, she helps advance the objectives of the ACFP, contributes to the development and refinement of the Strategic Plan, and supports thoughtful decision-making to ensure the organization is well managed. As a Director-at-Large, Dr. Abdellatif also ensures that ACFP assets are responsibly cared for, and that members continue to receive high-quality services.
