Last October, the First Five Years in Family Practice (FFYFP) committee launched its FFYFP Guidebook. The goal for this Guidebook was to create a living document that would act as a hub to answer frequent questions and collate useful resources for those in the first few years of their family medicine practice.
Part of the vision of this Guidebook was for it to be reviewed and updated regularly, to ensure that it remained relevant and accurate in swiftly evolving times. This approach has certainly been validated in the year since the Guidebook’s launch with all the changes made to the health care landscape in Alberta this year!
This fall, the committee undertook a review of the Guidebook, and collaborated to update it as broadly as possible. Links have been reviewed, processes have been confirmed and updated, new organizations and divisions have been added, and relevant new content has been written, including an overview of the new payment model launched earlier this year and an acronym index.
The changes to health care systems and processes in Alberta are obviously ongoing, and while the FFYFP committee aims to review this Guidebook annually each fall, we welcome suggestions and corrections in the interim!
If you have a recommendation for something to include or spot any typos or out of date information, please email info@acfp.ca with “FFYFP Guidebook” in the subject line so we can make the changes. Thank you so much!
