Project Title: Earth to Action: Healthy Communities for a Healthy Planet
End Date: July 2027
Background: Earth to Action (E2A) is a quality-improvement and research initiative designed to support family physicians in integrating planetary health into everyday clinical practice. The project examines whether providing brief, evidence-informed educational resources and practical campaign materials can improve healthcare providers’ knowledge, confidence, and engagement in climate-informed care.
What’s Involved: Participating clinics will go through a series of campaigns, beginning with Planetary Health Foundations, followed by topics such as metered-dose inhaler reduction, wildfire smoke, wildfire smoke and pregnancy, extreme heat, and plant-forward diets. Each campaign includes concise educational materials, such as short vodcasts, webpages, posters, and resources that can be shared with patients.
Healthcare providers will complete 3 brief surveys at different stages of the project to assess changes in their knowledge, attitudes, confidence, and clinical practices. Participating clinics may also support patient surveys and optional activities designed to explore patients’ experiences and perspectives.
